Position Description
Seeking a team player with strong technical and communication skills to be a critical interface between sales and marketing, engineering and key OEM customers. This position requires a high level of Japanese and English language skills. The Applications Engineer will work closely with specific customers to understand their metrology requirements and define metrology solutions based on existing and next generation Zygo products. This individual will provide technical customer support, help to develop new business opportunities, monitor product quality and help manage customer relationships.
Responsibilities:
Introduce technology, products, and solutions to new and existing customers
Recommend solutions and system configurations.
Analyze systems for customers.
Address customer technical questions according to an agreed upon schedule
Assist customers with debugging application problems
Train customers on basic technology, systems design, and product use
Manage technical requirements for custom products
Manage customer technical contact during custom product development program
Address quality and field failure issues
Manage technical documentation intended for customers
Execute technical projects determining the feasibility of new PPS equipment uses
Identify new opportunities with existing customers.
Investigate new uses of Zygo's technology
Review existing customer systems and make recommendations on improvements for next generation system
Position Requirements
B.S. Engr., Physics or related
Minimum 3 years of related industry experience including, experience as an applications engineer within a high tech precision measurement instrumentation company, preferably optical based.
Knowledge of metrology, optics, electronics and software helpful.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
High level Japanese and English languages skills are required.
Demonstrated independent as well as team oriented work habits.
Must be willing to travel.
