Sustaining Supplier Quality Engineer at AMETEK in Middlefield, CT

In this position, you will work with both our internal customers and our suppliers toward the attainment of our quality, cost, and delivery objectives using a variety of techniques. You will assist in such functions as ISO compliance, supplier qualification, introduction of new products, non-conformance root cause determination, prevention and corrective actions, QC source inspections, as well as serving as an interface for implementing our supplier's recommendations for process improvements to enhance quality, reduce cost, or shorten lead times. In-depth knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes, drawing interpretation, and related metrology tools and methodologies is required. Related practical work experience is also required.
Responsibilities:
o Interface with our suppliers to obtain high quality, competitive cost, and on-time delivery of optical components and assemblies. o Perform supplier assessments of existing and potential suppliers. o Work with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and quality to identify and qualify high performance suppliers, as well as to qualify their manufacture of components for new or lower cost products. o Interface between ZYGO and suppliers to ensure specifications are understood and met. o During periods of transition from one supplier to another, ensure purchase orders, drawings, specifications, tooling and skills are understood and operators have been adequately trained. o Assist in evaluating first article product from new suppliers. o Identify, investigate problems, determine root causes and initiate corrective actions o Ensure records such as NCMRs, waivers, engineering change requests, changes to inspection procedures, audits, material certs, and metrology data are created and properly maintained. o Ensure that suppliers provide complete inspection & test data. Ensure Zygo and critical supplier's measuring equipment is calibrated and being used properly and within its limits. Ensure correlation exists between Zygo's and Supplier's metrology where deemed to be critical. o Possess a thorough understanding of company drawings and both internal and industry specifications. o Support supplier visits, source inspections, and supplier CA follow-up. o Support Dock-To-Stock (DTS) program with qualified suppliers. Work with Suppliers and Zygo Operations to maximize the amount of incoming material that qualifies for dock-to-stock status. o Follow prescribed safety policy and regulations. Keep equipment and work areas in neat and orderly condition. o Facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Actions with the supplier Position Requirements:
Qualifications:
o 5-10 years of Quality or related Engineering Experience o B.S. degree in an engineering discipline. o Must possess the skills to collaborate across departmental lines and with external suppliers. o Must be meticulous and possess a drive to meet or exceed internal and external customer requirements. o Must be an effective communicator in both written and oral formats. o Must be capable of applying PDCA techniques and using standard industry tools & equipment to perform metrology and ensure quality. o Ability to develop recommended drawing / specification changes, interpret drawing nomenclature. o Six Sigma certification/lean a plus. o Knowledge of industry specifications and best practices appropriate to the area of expertise, is required. o Must have ability to travel to support other Zygo and may be up to 20% of the time. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
